For 12ga shotguns this is a must to retain the magazine cap or magazine coupling when your barrel does not have a detent plunger or your magazine retainer is not functional or you are adding an extension to an 11/87 or 1100 that does not a have detent plunger on the end of the forend. It is so effective that Wilson Combat includes one with their Magazine extensions.
